M&S Food & Clothing Jersey Store Refurbishment

Located on King Street in Saint Helier, this project for Marks & Spencer involved a complete signage renovation across both the Food and Clothing departments, spanning two trading floors within one of Jersey’s busiest retail locations.

The project required meticulous planning and precise execution to deliver a full store facelift while the store remained fully operational throughout the refurbishment programme. Working within a tight schedule, our in-house manufacturing and installation teams managed every stage of the project, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficient delivery from concept through to completion.

All signage was manufactured in-house and shipped via sea freight to Jersey, requiring detailed logistical coordination to maintain programme deadlines. Installation works were carried out during out-of-hours periods to minimise disruption to daily trading operations and ensure a seamless experience for both staff and customers.

The scope included the supply and installation of a comprehensive internal signage package, incorporating both illuminated and non-illuminated signage, bespoke wall graphics, and decorative wall panelling designed to elevate the overall retail environment while remaining within the client’s budget requirements.

Throughout the project, our team worked closely with the client to provide value engineering solutions and design improvements, helping to optimise materials, finishes, and installation methods without compromising on quality or visual impact. This collaborative approach enabled the delivery of a high-end retail finish while maintaining strict cost and programme controls.

A key achievement of the project was the successful completion of the full store refurbishment with zero snags, demonstrating the attention to detail, quality control, and coordination maintained throughout both the manufacturing and installation phases.

Results and Impact

The comprehensive signage solution had a significant and measurable impact on Honi Poke’s business.

Enhanced Visibility and Brand Recognition: The eye-catching outdoor signage, featuring illuminated 3D letters bonded directly to glass with adhesive and 3M clear VHB and reverse-cut acrylic bonded on the back of the glass, made Honi Poke easily recognisable from a distance. This innovative mounting technique, coupled with clear external wiring, allowed for a seamless and attractive finish that drew in new customers and significantly increased foot traffic.

Improved Customer Experience: The illuminated indoor signage, made of stainless-steel letters welded and mounted on stand-off spacers, created an inviting and vibrant atmosphere. This high-quality craftsmanship, colour-matched to Honi Poke’s specific branding requirements, contributed to a more enjoyable dining environment. Positive customer feedback highlighted the improved ambiance, leading to increased customer satisfaction and repeat visits.

Results and Impact

Increased Sales and Foot Traffic: The prominent and visually appealing signage attracted more passers-by, converting them into customers. The rise in sales and overall business performance directly correlates with this increase in visibility and attractiveness of the signage.

Improved Customer Experience: By maintaining a cohesive design across all signage elements, both indoor and outdoor, Honi Poke reinforced its brand identity. The use of aluminium returns and 5 mm Perspex opal acrylic for the outdoor letters, and the specific colour matching from our in-house spray-painting facility, ensured a consistent and lasting impression on customers.

Adaptability to Installation Challenges: Given the busy location of the site in Leeds, our team worked out of hours in a very limited time to complete the installation. This flexibility and dedication ensured minimal disruption and a timely completion, showcasing our ability to adapt to challenging environments.
