With a fleet of delivery trucks, Huws Gray required fresh new vehicle graphics applied to all, further expanding the Huws Gray brand identity and impact. Contacting Signworld Group through ‘Wrap My Motor’, Huws Gray laid out a clear brief, using the signature green, red, yellow and white colours that have become so well known to Huws Gray. Signworld’s team of designers set to work with this simple but clear brief and produced several designs. A final design was chosen and not long after the first Huws Gray truck rolled up at the Signworld Group HQ in Broughton, Chester.

One of WrapMyMotor’s vehicle wrap specialists Mark worked tirelessly with the latest conformable vinyl’s which were digitally printed using Signworld’s Mimaki JV33-260 wide format digital printer. Mark worked the printed vinyl graphics into curved panels and deep ridges throughout the vehicle ensuring all panels we’re full covered. Not too long later the first Huws Gray truck wrap was complete and it was time for the next in-line to roll up.

As always, we’ve provided a small gallery of images so you can see the Huws Gray truck wrap under way. Delikate, based in Chester are an award winning delicatessen specialising in delivering affordable luxury cakes, cupcakes, pies, hampers and of course offering a fantastic deli counter featuring award winning olives, pies, pastries, cooked meats, cheeses and salads. Delikate love a touch of the avant-garde, even delivering their orders in a pink hackney cab!

Contacting WrapMyMotor.com, part of the Signworld Group of companies, Delikate’s own Katie Hughes explained she was looking to extend her brand identity from her deli and taxi to a new vehicle, a specialised temperature controlled vehicle that could house all kinds of treats. With a brief to bring the style and creative nature of Delikate’s endeavours to this new vehicle, Signworld’s were able to design the perfect graphic wrap. Once the design was finalised, specialised vinyls were digitally printed using Signworld’s own Mimaki JV33-260, capable of printing up to 2.6 metres wide by potentially hundreds of metres in length.

Using the digital prints, one of WrapMyMotor’s wrap specialists Michael was able to begin his skilled work applying the prints onto the vehicle in the temperature-controlled workshop at the Signworld Group HQ in Broughton, Chester. Wrapping the first digital print around a very curved and formed bonnet, this was to prove the trickiest part of the wrap, but obviously no problem for our team of highly skilled, certified professionals.

Looking at the finished product below, you can see how well the design was translated onto the vehicle, a testament to WrapMyMotor’s skilled team of designers and applicators. You can visit Delikate’s website here and be sure to visit WrapMyMotor.com.

Signworld getting tropical at Chester Zoo

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Recently, Chester Zoo contacted The Signworld Group looking for a solution in the Tropical Realm at the zoo. Each viewing window was in-need of a jungle themed make over. Chester Zoo’s own solution involved using camouflage style netting, which partly obscure the viewing window. With a whole host of materials available to solve this problem, Signworld’s team began testing all options.

After several tests at Signworld’s Chester HQ, the team decided on a specialist, 100% optically clear, self-adhesive digital vinyl, allowing a person to see straight through without any distortion, in addition the print was laminated to allow for the windows regular cleaning without affecting the print. Signworld’s team of designers began researching different types of tropical landscapes, which would allow for an accurate scene with leaves and vines falling strategically across the window, not to fully block viewing. Once a design was created and approved by Chester Zoo’s fantastic team, a sample was produced using Signworld’s Mimaki JV3-260 Digital Printer. The Signworld solution was then ready for application to a viewing window in the tropical realm for final testing.

The Philippine Crocodile enclosure was chosen to receive the first print application. Signworld’s team of fitters delight were handpicked for the job which involved applying the clear digital print from inside the tank to the reverse side of the window. Wearing waterproof boots, the team worked within the humid temperatures to apply the vinyl prints. Being ever professional, the engineers carried out their job flawlessly as you can tell in the images below.

Signworld are shortly due to revisit Chester Zoo to install further window graphics within the tropical realm.

New Face for Getting Personal’s Manchester HQ

Monday, July 18th, 2011

The Signworld Group are no stranger to helping businesses carry their brand message across to their customers. A fantastic example of this is the recent completion of fresh new signage at the HQ of Manchester’s Getting Personal.

GettingPersonal.co.uk is an online retailer specialising in personalised and unique gift ideas. Founded in 2005, Getting Personal offer products that cannot be purchased on the high street and are always working hard to extend their range. Beginning with a personalised calendar, which today is still one of their most popular products, now growing to designing and producing many of their gifts in-house. Getting Personal take their customer suggestions very seriously and many of their products have been created as consequence.

The design, manufacture and installation was carried by utilising the in-house services from within the Signworld Group; Designers from Signworld created the concept, Metal Fabricator’s from SmartFab engineered and created the signage, and Installation Crews from Sign Maintenance UK oversaw a potential difficult fitting of all products to client satisfaction. The signage itself, which is another fine example of a bespoke package, consisted of pan-folded, powder coated white aluminum tray signs with CNC machined flat-cut letters to the face. These letters had full colour digitally printed graphics, using Signworld’s Mimaki JV3-260 digital printer, to meet with Getting Personal’s brand guidelines and an easy to digest web address was added to complete the adjacent return edge of the building front.

Along with the tray signs, Getting Personal required a sign that could be seen from the road, to help visitors find them in the bustling Manchester business park, Roundthorn Industrial Estate – which houses many respected businesses including Timpsons, Wates and AirWorld to name but a few. Signworld’s solution to the road sign requirement was a 3.5 metre, powder coated, ice white totem sign featuring 10mm thick letters bonded directly to each face of the totem. The thickness of the letters helps bring the totem sign alive. Signworld Group finished Getting Personal’s collection of signs with a clean, easy to understand directional sign, helping visitors to navigate the Getting Personal HQ.

Be sure to follow Signworld Group on Facebook & Twitter. Make sure you take a look at the gallery of fantastic images below thanks to Getting Personal.

Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas find a home in London

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Yohji Yamamoto, a Japanese-Parisian based Fashion Designer has stores in New York, Paris, and Antwerp. In 2001, Yamamoto fused sport and style with Adidas, known as ‘Y-3′. When looking for the perfect location for the flagship store for Y-3, Yamamoto settled on the United Kingdom, specifically London, opposite his Mayfair boutique. JPH Designs, a long serving partner of Signworld Group, was commissioned to turn a prime location in London into the perfect home for Y-3.

Signworld Group have worked with JPH Designs on many high profile projects, for example the fantastic Vivienne Westwood stores across the whole of the UK or the Flannels Designer clothing store in Liverpool. Naturally, with a project like Y-3, when it came to choosing a manufacturer the highest spec external signage, JPH paid Signworld Group a visit. JPH Designs delivered the brief to Signworld Group, who immediately became excited with the proposals. Utilising SmartFab, a Signworld Group company, which operates from within the Broughton based Signworld HQ, a 17,000 sq ft factory space specialising in metal fabrication, meant all work was to be carried out in-house, by Signworld Group employees.

With an extremely tight deadline, Signworld Group had a major task to complete in very little time. SmartFab’s arsenal of the latest fabrication equipment, arming the most creative and skilled engineers, were able to rise to the call of duty and complete the project on time and on budget. The final signage was comprised of a satin black powder-coated finish to an aluminium pan-folded tray with built-up illuminated acrylic letters. An illuminated aluminium projecting sign would complete the suite of amazing signage. The images below do their best, but this sign really must be seen in person to appreciate it’s simple elegance. Signworld Group loved the opportunity to work with JPH Designs once more and Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto.

You can find the new Y-3 Flagship store at Y-3, 54 Conduit Street, London W1S 2XU. On March 10th 2011, Yohji Yamamoto official opened the new store with the help of Zinedine Zidane. Check out the images below.
