Farm & Pet Place’s new Flagship Store opens its doors to the public.

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Signworld group were recently selected amid stiff competition to design and create new and exciting Signage and internal point of sale products for their new Flagship store in Mold North Wales which opened its doors on the 16th April this year. The brief was to utilise some of the companies well recognised existing branding but to update the specification so that the company projected a more modern image to its customers. Signworld also had to look at way finding signage so that visitors to the store were efficiently directed to the product areas they were looking for. Signworld utilised the existing logo and then created an eye catching 3D multi-layered design effect which was visually eye catching & attractive together with bold adjacent lettering informing the public exactly what Farm & Pet place is all about in store.

Farm and Pet Place  loved the new designs, concepts and costings that Signworld provided and shortly after manufacturing began, with a very tight deadline with less than a week to manufacture and install the signs the pressure was certainly on. No stranger to short lead times, working with large international clients regularly, Signworld Group were able to meet the demand. Manufacturing began with CNC machining of the signage components, a satin black aluminium finish was chosen over the conventional gloss black for the logos which helped capture light rather than reflecting it back as well as large white letters each standing at 450mm high were arranged into the 3 clear bullets points of information, clearly visible for all to see. Signworld also manufactured a large eye catching Totem sign at the entrance to the store with visitor information detailed within the sign. The sign is the first glimpse and introduction to the many products that await the customer in store. The Installation of all of the signage was expertly carried out by a team of skilled Signworld engineers and as you can see in the gallery below, the finished signs really do look special.

Farm & Pet Place Ltd, are extremely proud of their strong Welsh Heritage, established in 1970 and originally specialising in traditional Welsh farming, timber merchants as well as some van sales. The business has consistently developed and grown from those early days eventually acquiring five small premises in the North Wales area and in 1994, Pet Food and accessories where added, along with a new name, now calling themselves Farm & Pet Place. The company currently have four stores which are open 7 days a week, its success with its loyal customers has led the company to further investigate plans to open further stores in the near future. Farm & Pet Place has gone to great lengths to source quality products and has developed their own brand “Dr Green”, with great success now supplying wholesalers nationwide.

With a site as big as the new Mold store, Farm & Pet Place needed to ensure that all of their staff looked at their very best. Signworld’s sister company Embroidaworld.com were tasked to provide smart uniforms to each member of staff, various samples of quality garments with embroidered Farm & Pets Place company logos where provided to the client, using our modern state of the art embroidery multi-headed embroidery machines and software we were able to persuade Farm & Pets that we could deliver on both cost & quality. Signworld Group operate seven different companies within the group ranging from signage, sign maintenance, work wear, web design, steel fabrication, specialist vehicle markings and exhibition and display products, with the ability to provide a very unique range of products, it enables our busy clients to focus on just one supplier with clear financial savings to both parties. Operating from a modern 17,000sq ft facility in Broughton just outside Chester City centre enables many clients easy access to many products and services,. If you would like a quotation on any of Signworld’s products or would like to discuss your project with a none-pushy technical assistant, please either call in, telephone or email us. Allan Stephenson group Managing Director says “Keeping our customers completely happy is what makes our business stronger, many of our clients are happy to refer us onto their business associates by recommendation and we are very proud of our reputation as market leaders in this industry. We are conscious that we need to maintain this position and are currently half way through a one million pound investment in new technology as well as further construction and development of our Chester HQ to accommodate further demand for our products

Fred Perry x Stüssy Collaboration at Foot Patrol, London

Monday, June 6th, 2011

In early May 2011, Fred Perry UK contacted the Signworld Group directly with a very interesting request, 4 giant acrylic light-box numbers, to be internally illuminated, two red and two white,, all with a very tight deadline! Fred Perry UK of course need no introduction, part of the massive globally recognised label. The numbers were to be part of an installation in collaboration with Stüssy, a clothing brand created in the early 1980′s by Shaun Stüssy, heralding from Laguna Beach, California. The 2011 Spring/Summer range is the second blank canvas collaboration between Fred Perry and Stüssy and has proved to be even better than the first according to critics.

The brief for the huge acrylic numbers was simple, to create some large light-boxes in a specific font and be deep enough to allow footwear and various small products to be placed on top comfortably. With the extremely tight deadline, Signworld Group were able to put together a design and have it approved in one afternoon, moving very quickly to manufacturing. Utilising the in-house team of designers ensured that the project was in great hands and taken care of to a very high standard. Signworld’s team of engineers began to create the intricate panels and sections that would ultimately come together to create each number:

Signworld were able to manufacture and complete each of the numbers right on time for Fred Perry UK and the numbers where shipped from our HQ in Chester, to their new home at the Foot Patrol store – Berwick Street, London. On 5th May, the extremely popular UK fashion, music and art blog The Daily Street (www.thedailystreet.co.uk) featured an article on Foot Patrol’s installation featuring the acrylic light-boxes. We’ve included the article below for you and a link to the original:

Fred Perry x Stüssy Deluxe installation at Foot Patrol

The front room down at Foot Patrol has had a little makeover to promote the recent Fred Perry x Stüssy collection…

Not only is this a great installation (and it is, if only for those giant light boxes), but it’s the coming together of two of my favourite things – Foot Patrol and the Fred Perry x Stüssy Deluxe collaboration. Taking over the small entrance room or “lobby” of the sneaker store, the light boxes work so well against the black walls and slate floor. The window has of course been branded up with the iconic Fred Perry x Stüssy Deluxe collaborative logo and sees the Foot Patrol stools below it branded up with the company establishment dates also. Fred Perry have brought in a locker-room style display cabinet for the garms to hang in, similar to the style of the recent Manchester Laurel Wreath store.
Essentially, it’s a great little installation that I cannot fault, so make sure you swing by Foot Patrolnext time your in the area and check out the lightboxes or perhaps sit on one of the benches. Oh, and check out the collection obviously.

Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas find a home in London

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Yohji Yamamoto, a Japanese-Parisian based Fashion Designer has stores in New York, Paris, and Antwerp. In 2001, Yamamoto fused sport and style with Adidas, known as ‘Y-3′. When looking for the perfect location for the flagship store for Y-3, Yamamoto settled on the United Kingdom, specifically London, opposite his Mayfair boutique. JPH Designs, a long serving partner of Signworld Group, was commissioned to turn a prime location in London into the perfect home for Y-3.

Signworld Group have worked with JPH Designs on many high profile projects, for example the fantastic Vivienne Westwood stores across the whole of the UK or the Flannels Designer clothing store in Liverpool. Naturally, with a project like Y-3, when it came to choosing a manufacturer the highest spec external signage, JPH paid Signworld Group a visit. JPH Designs delivered the brief to Signworld Group, who immediately became excited with the proposals. Utilising SmartFab, a Signworld Group company, which operates from within the Broughton based Signworld HQ, a 17,000 sq ft factory space specialising in metal fabrication, meant all work was to be carried out in-house, by Signworld Group employees.

With an extremely tight deadline, Signworld Group had a major task to complete in very little time. SmartFab’s arsenal of the latest fabrication equipment, arming the most creative and skilled engineers, were able to rise to the call of duty and complete the project on time and on budget. The final signage was comprised of a satin black powder-coated finish to an aluminium pan-folded tray with built-up illuminated acrylic letters. An illuminated aluminium projecting sign would complete the suite of amazing signage. The images below do their best, but this sign really must be seen in person to appreciate it’s simple elegance. Signworld Group loved the opportunity to work with JPH Designs once more and Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto.

You can find the new Y-3 Flagship store at Y-3, 54 Conduit Street, London W1S 2XU. On March 10th 2011, Yohji Yamamoto official opened the new store with the help of Zinedine Zidane. Check out the images below.

Signworld Proudly Present… The Wombats

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

2010 has been a fantastic year for Signworld! It’s also been an amazing year for Liverpool based trio, The Wombats.

Earlier this year Signworld where involved in the production of the single cover-art for The Wombat’s 2010 single, ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)‘. The Wombats were looking to show a series of bright colours in an arrangement of a howling wolf set on a self-illuminated light-box. Liverpool based design agency Mercy put out a cry for help on Twitter for anyone who could help. Signworld responded and got right to work right away building a light-box that would allow light to shine through an opal-white face, to help the brightly coloured vinyls glow. The deadline was as tight as they come and Signworld delivered! Mercy were extremely impressed with Signworld’s results. As you can see from the photograph below, the finished article looks fantastic!

Due to the great success of the artwork for the first single, Signworld were approached for their next single ‘Techno Fan‘. Works Director at Signworld, John Biggins explains “Mercy called me with a brief on the new single. The Wombats wanted to portray the lights often seen in urban techno nightclubs. So with a few meetings and some team creative input I suggested that if we fabricated various colours of exposed Neon and placed them inside an aluminium box to keep consistency with the previous single we could really get the desired effect”. What do you guys think, look at the preview below, we think it looks breath-taking!

The new album entitled ‘The Wombat’s Proudly Present…This Modern Glitch‘, to be released early February 2011 will also feature a Signworld masterpiece (watch this space guys). Signworld have thoroughly enjoyed working with the local band and are big fans, wishing them luck with the new releases!

Be sure to check out The Wombats website for more details and for details on how to buy the single.
